Activities of the
12th Arab Theatre Festival
On Thursday, January 9,
2020, three events were represented in three press conferences. They came as
follows:
The intellectual
conference:
Artist Ghannam Ghannam revealed the
titles of the intellectual conference of the 12th Arab Theatre Festival, which
carries the main title "Theatre is the Questions Lab and the Renovation
Operator". He also revealed the title of the scientific research
competition "Cultural shapes in the Arab theatre scene", and its
sub-title; "Building creative forms in light of cultural
particularities."
Mr. Ghannam pointed out that the
intellectual conference is not just an intellectual symposium, but rather a
group of seminars, as it is not on the sidelines of the festival, but from the
core of the activities, "it intensifies the aesthetic and intellectual meanings
that the festival targets."
The program of the conference, which
will be presented by Dr. Muhammad Khair Al-Rifai, begins on 11/1/2020 and until
16/1/2020, will have ramifications, as the intellectual field is not only the
intellectual conference, but everything that goes into the intellectual space
of the festival and workshops.
Mr. Ghannam expressed his hopes that
this experiment will be successful and able to reap its fruits; "so that
we go to the next session with a basket of knowledge and how to formulate it in
another country in the same context," Ghannam added; "And we are
studying Mr. Khaled Al-Tarifi to put the title, and we found that, irony is the
distinguishing mark of Mr. Al-Tarifi's work, and it is a model based on what he
presented in the Jordanian Theatre, and a case worth highlighting his
creativity and uniqueness."
In turn, the festival's field
coordinator, Dr. Muhammad Khair Al-Rifai, expressed feelings of pride in
partnership between the Arab Theatre institute, the Artists Syndicate and the
Ministry of Culture "without which we would not be present to talk about
these joints that have to do with researching a new area in the process of
dealing with the issue of an intellectual conference," adding " We
are trying very hard this time to move away from what is typical to enter a new
experience, and we have moved one way or another from the paper axis to the
axis of work. "Mr. Al-Rifai added, "We tried very hard with this
conference to move as far as possible away from rhetorical platforms and search
for the possibility of adapting the place according to the needs and
requirements of each speaker."
The honored Jordanian
artists:
The press conference of the honored
artists turned into a celebration of those selected 10 Jordanian artists."
Honoring is part of the appreciation and response of loyalty itself in the
service of art" the artist Ghannam Ghannam influencing the talk by standing
up; in respect and appreciation of his fellow artists, and this gesture had its
effect on the hearts of the attendants.
Mr. Ghannam pointed out that honoring
is a touch of fulfillment, and that the artist deserves a lot, and honoring is
part of appreciation and giving back to those who spent their lives in the
service of art, hence the difficulty of choosing is a problem where everyone
falls when choosing, but in the end it is necessary to accept and understand
these options. The names of so many Jordanian dramas have been received and
deserve to be honored, but it is more difficult to choose all the names, and we
appreciate the role of the syndicate and the relevant committees in this
problem that they faced when choosing. Mr. Ghannam, who preferred to stand when
talking, said that the meaning of honor is recognition of what has been done
and what is being done and what will be done in the Arab Theatre in the arena
where the festival is held; "If the festival is held in Jordan, then I do
not envy the Supreme Executive Committee to select 10 of the honorees because
in Jordan there is a lot to be honored in this festival."
On the criteria for selecting the
honorees, the captain of the Jordanian artists syndicate, head of the
committee, artist Hussein Al-Khatib, said that it was related to the artistic,
theatrical, creative and tender framework as the proposed names exceeded 50
names, "but the consensus was through the committee that had been formed
for this purpose, and there was a kind of contradiction and the artists were
placed on the ruler of one of those who presented and are still presenting, and
10 colleagues have been reached and the Supreme Executive Committee has been
blessed and this was duly announced, and this choice of colleagues does not
mean that there are names that do not deserve, so everyone has respect and
appreciation for the role artistic career. "
The ten honorees are in Arabic alphabetical
order: Basem Dalqamouni, Habis Hussein, Hatem Al-Sayed, Khaled Al-Tarifi,
Abdul-Karim Al-Khalaileh, Abdul-Karim Al-Qawasmi, Majd Al-Qasas, Nadera Omran,
Nabil Najem and Yousef Al-Jamal.
The honored artists spoke during the
conference, and each expressed in individual words about the meanings of this
honor and its implications, and valued the role of the Arab Theatre Institute
in Arab theatrical life, headed by the ruler of Sharjah. They remembered some of
those colleagues who passed by, so that some of them could not speak, when
recalling some artists whom they missed, and the atmosphere was filled with
high emotional shipments, and all the honored artists praised the role of Dr.
Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, who is credited with this Arab theatrical
gathering at the beginning of each year.
The opening ceremony:
A Jordanian Love Tale opens the
activities of the 12th Arab Theatre Festival in Jordan:
The head of the Supreme Committee of
the 12th Arab Theatre Festival Mr. Hussein Al-Khatib confirmed that the opening
ceremony of the activities of the 12th session of the festival will be
clear-cut and will talk about "our reality and our Arab lives and the Arab
and human nation."
Mr. Al-Khatib praised the paragraphs
of the launching ceremony of the Festival, and the efforts of all workers to
make this course a success in directing or supervising.
Mr. Ghannam stressed that the opening
issue stems from the idea of partnership "When a partnership works with
a party concerned with theatre, it must have a role in drawing the image,
because all the joints of the festival; from choosing the performances up to
defining the intellectual conference and resolving the topic of participants,
whether in courses, workshops or arbitration are theirs.
The three conferences
were moderated by the journalist Rasmi Mahasneh.

race to establish the modern Jordanian state in 1921, where the first
theatrical show was documented in 1918, and before this documentation there
were theatrical performances that were not previously documented," Al
Barari added. "From this standpoint, we see that Amman is not just a place
and a container, rather, it is a product of civilization and culture, and it is
a point and a focus for artists. "
Al-Barari
stressed that Amman is worthy of theatre and the inclusion of this course with
royal patronage, is the best evidence that theatre is not a margin, but is seen
as a real and important achievement and an identity of the homeland.
Al-Barari
concluded his speech with the readiness of the Ministry of Culture to serve
this festival, whether through the infrastructure of the Ministry of Culture,
cultural centres, technicians and the logistical services it provides.
On
the intellectual conference that accompanies the festival, theatrical artist
Ghannam Ghannam indicated that the conference is not only intellectual, but
there is an operational aspect, and he answered some of the questions that
arise about the Arab theatre; the most important of which is the absence of the
theoretical statement of Arab theatre.
Ghannam
stressed that in Jordan there are active teams and have a footprint on the Arab
level and have their achievement that distinguishes them, which prompted us to
put a question on the experience of each group.
Ghannam
indicated that this year's intellectual conference will witness the departure
from the podium and going to the practical exercise.
In
turn, Hassan Nafali, the administration and coordination official at the
festival said that there are two tracks for the festival presentations, where
